EDI Isn’t Just an Add-on | WIQD Head of Programmes wins Honourable Mention at RightBrains Digital Awards
We’re happy to announce that our Head of Programmes Judith Kreukels has won an Honourable Mention for the prestigious Digital Talent award from RightBrains! In the past three years, Judith has transformed WIQD from a support network to an established organisation driving the change in quantum. This award not only celebrates her individual talent and achievement but is also a great acknowledgement of our mission to foster Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) within quantum development.
EDI as a Core Pillar, Not an Afterthought
Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) isn’t just an “add-on”—it’s a core part of the progress we work to achieve in quantum computing and technology. A more diverse, equitable, and inclusive environment leads to better science, richer perspectives, and innovations that hold real societal value. To make this vision a reality, EDI must be a shared commitment across sectors, organizations, and individuals.
Moving Beyond “Volunteerism” in EDI Efforts
Creating a more equitable, inclusive and diverse field isn’t a task that can rest on a few dedicated volunteers alone. True change demands industry-wide investment. For EDI to thrive, we need to build frameworks that provide consistent resources and institutional support. This means allocating funding, dedicating time, and developing strategies to support these initiatives meaningfully.
The Responsibility is Shared
Winning an Honourable Mention for the Digital Talent award highlights both Judith’s and our dedication to EDI, but it also serves as a call to action. It’s only by working together—across all corners of our sector—that we can achieve an inclusive, impactful future in quantum development.
