We’re partnering with DiviQ!

At WIQD, we believe that equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) are essential to driving innovation and progress in quantum. That’s why we’re happy to announce our new partnership with Diversity in Quantum (DiviQ)! Together, our goal is to build a more inclusive quantum ecosystem, attracting and retaining talent from underrepresented groups and fostering equity in the exciting new field of quantum.

What is DiviQ?

DiviQ is an organization dedicated to diversity in quantum through initiatives such as:

  • Mentorship programmes for career development.
  • Inclusive events to foster dialogue and representation.
  • Safe spaces for individuals from diverse background to connect, build solidarity with each other, and thrive.
  • Affinity groups for members of marginalized communities in quantum to self-organize and build community.

DiviQ was born following the success of Women in Quantum, created by Denise Ruffner. By joining forces with Dr. Tzula Propp and Dr. Michael Dascal, they formed DiviQ to represent everybody coming from underrepresented groups in quantum.

We have already worked together before: Inspirational Talks and Quantum Queers

Last February, we hosted the co-founder of DiviQ Dr. Tzula Propp (they/them) at our Inspirational Talks where they discussed their professional journey in quantum and shared career advice.

Additionally, we support Quantum Queers Delft, Tzula’s initiative that provides a safe and supportive space for LGBTQ+ professionals in quantum. The next edition of this event is coming up on December 12th (12:00 – 14:00 h). Interested? Email t.b.propp@tudelft.nl to register.

So partnering up to bring you more activities and initiatives just made sense!

At WIQD we believe that by bringing together all underrepresented groups, we make a stronger case for inclusion. By partnering with DiviQ, we continue our commitment to connect and retain underrepresented groups in quantum.

By working together, we aim to make the field more equitable and representative, ensuring that individuals from all backgrounds can thrive and contribute to a stronger, more resilient quantum ecosystem.
