Inspirational Talks

Inspirational Talks

Every month we organize our Inspirational Talks. During each event, we invite an inspiring role model to talk about their journey: what did they do to get to the point where they are today? What obstacles did they encounter? What successes did they celebrate? What tips do they have for their audience?

Inspirational Talk with Federica Mantegazzini

We’re thrilled to invite you to another edition of our Inspirational Talks from the WIQD community! In May, we are hosting Federica Mantegazzini, an experimental physicist and researcher at Fondazione Bruno Kessler (FBK) in Trento, Italy.

🗓️ Date: 23 May
🕒 Time: 12:30 – 13:30 h
📍 Location: Zoom or stream live in Amsterdam / Delft / Eindhoven / Enschede / Leiden / Maastricht with fellow quantum enthusiasts

🚀 Federica’s journey in the realm of physics is nothing short of extraordinary. With a Master’s Degree in Physics from the University of Milano Bicocca, she delved into high-energy physics at CERN before venturing into the captivating world of low-temperature physics and superconducting sensors during her doctoral studies at Heidelberg University.

🔬 Her groundbreaking research spans from cryogenic detectors for particle physics to superconducting quantum devices for cQED experiments. Federica’s expertise and passion have led her to coordinate a research team at FBK’s Sensors & Devices Centre, where they explore the fascinating physics of superconducting devices, including Josephson junctions-based quantum circuits and qubits.

🌍 Moreover, Federica Mantegazzini is actively involved in shaping the future of quantum science and technology. Currently, she serves as the FBK contact person for the National Quantum Science and Technology Institute (NQSTI), representing Italy’s national quantum initiative. She is also a task leader for the Qu-Pilot European RIA project for the Superconducting Platform and will soon take on the role of Coordinator for the European RIA project MiSS – Microwave Squeezing with Superconducting (meta)materials starting in June 2024.

🌐 Furthermore, Federica is a co-PI of the Hy-QMS (Hybrid Quantum Magneto-mechanical Systems) Italy-Singapore project and, within INFN, she is the local responsible for the DARTWARS project (Detector Array Readout with Traveling Wave AmplifieRS).

Bring your lunch and join fellow local quantum enthusiasts to stream the talk live in five in-person locations in Amsterdam, Delft, Eindhoven, Enschede, Leiden, Maastricht or join online!
