Engaging Men as Allies to Women in the Workplace: Achieving Success Together!
Open to all genders (binary and non-binary) working in or with quantum computing development.

For our November Quarterly Event, WIQD is delighted to welcome Robert Baker, CEO of Potentia Talent Consulting, a recognised expert in engaging men in gender balance. Robert had a 40 year career in global HR consulting and now runs his own firm, specialising in advising organisations on how to build diverse and inclusive workplaces.
“How do we support women in quantum to develop and grow their careers? How can men play their part in supporting women in quantum?”
These questions highlight why gender balance is right at the top of the people’s agenda for many organisations today. Leaders recognise that a diverse workforce brings different ideas and perspectives which results in better decisions and helps foster innovation. It also helps organisations better reflect the profile of their stakeholders, partners and the society in which they operate.
One of the key area of focus, as organisations seek to achieve progress, is in the advancement of women who are typically underrepresented in leadership and other key positions in the organisation. Research has confirmed that women bring huge benefits to organisations and yet the majority of senior positions are held by men. As a result, many organisations are setting targets for the representation of women in leadership and setting up programmes to support and develop them as leaders.
There is now an understanding that if men support women in the workplace (and at home), change can happen faster. Progressive organisations are seeking to work with their men to help them become allies to women and be agents of change. This benefits women, but there are also significant advantages for men from developing their own gender balanced leadership skills.
WIQD’s mission is to bring women together in quantum for support, networking and community growth. We believe that engaging men to work with us will enable us to achieve gender balance faster and bring more women into leadership.
